Art theft at Florida Craftsmen

February 19, 2009

On Wednesday, February 18 between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., two men entered Florida Craftsmen, through the Executive Director’s 5th street entrance, and stole two-one-of a kind works of art. The two pieces are a Duncan McClellan glass vessel valued at $5,200 and a Chuck Boux glass vase valued at $1,500.  Florida Craftsmen and Duncan McClellan are offering a $500 reward, for information to the St. Petersburg Police Department that lead, to the thiefs’ apprehension.

Florida Craftsmen is a statewide nonprofit organization representing Florida artists.  The event placed Florida Craftsmen’s staff, volunteers and ArtLofts artists in harm’s way.  It also represents a considerable lose of income to the artists and the organization.
