Ray Cannata

Ray Cannata (Spring Hill – wood) became a gallery artist after the May gallery review. Ray proved his accomplishments as a woodturner after entering threepieces into the American Association of Woodturners of Vermont competitive exhibition and received 1st and 3rd place awards.

Ray recently moved from Vermont to Spring Hill, Florida, and immediately sought out venues and organizations to become a part of the local arts community.

When he creates a piece, Ray allows the individual features of the particular wood to begin to dictate and help determine his final design.

“My passion is to use my knowledge, skill and tools to create works of art, which dramatize the beauty of wood for all to enjoy.”

Ray creates both beautiful functional pieces, including salad and fruit bowls, platters and dip bowls; and sculptural ‘pots’ which reflect his interest in Native American potters and classical forms.
