Widely respected as Florida Craftsmen's premier showcase for the finest contemporary crafts and design in ceramics, glass, wood, fiber, metal, jewelry, paper and mixed media, CraftArt returns with much fanfare for a 7th year in the historic Coliseum in downtown St. Petersburg, a city recently honored as one of America's Most Livable Cities and a Top 25 U.S. Cultural Destination. Featuring Mediterranean Revival style architecture, an arched roof and 15,500 sq. ft. of red oak floors, the Coliseum also highlights adjacent alcoves serving as artist demonstration areas and a balcony offering patrons a birds-eye view of the fair while enjoying a wonderful variety of food and drink. Formerly an outdoor festival, the CraftArt Fair 2004 has been reconfigured to accommodate 70 artists indoors and 40 artists outdoors in a complementary setting. There is a $5 weekend admission, FC Members, students and children under 12 are admitted free.
Ann Shaw Lancaster
Ann Lancaster is founder and Executive Director of the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft in Houston, Texas. Prior to this position she worked as Operations Manager for the Houston Center for Photography. Ms. Lancaster received her BA in Fine Art from Rice University in Texas and received additional training in the field of fiber arts. Professionally, her years as a retail gallery director and an arts administrator have advanced her knowledge and passion for all forms of fine craft media, and have earned her the respect of her peers and the crafts community on a local, regional and national level. Nationally, Ms. Lancaster serves on the Board of the American Craft Council in New York City and the Craft Organization Development Association.
Respected for her aesthetic eye and rapport with artists nationwide, Ann has curated and juried numerous exhibitions and fairs throughout the country. The CraftArt Fair 2004 Committee and sponsors welcome Ann Shaw Lancaster's artistic vision, dedication to contemporary craft and craft artists, and her involvement as the distinguished juror for this year's event.
