50th Anniversary Exhibition & Conference

The Opening Reception for the Florida Craftsmen 50th Anniversary Exhibition will be March 21, 2002, at the Deland Museum of Art in Deland Florida.

Florida Craftsmen will use the occasion to present Lifetime Achievement Awards to 13 extraordinary individuals for their accomplishments and support of Florida contemporary crafts. A fourteenth Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Lois Rector of Palm Harbor, Florida, was recognized in a St. Petersburg ceremony September 13, 2002. More information on the Lifetime Achievement Award winners is here.

The exhibition, juried by Robert Ebendorf - internationally-recognized metalsmith and Distinguished Professor of Art at East Carolina University - will coincide with a 3-day regional conference and weekend of craft events with national craft leaders in celebration of Florida Craftsmen's 50th Anniversary.

The exhibition and conference, also hosted by Stetson University in Deland, is sponsored in part by the American Craft Council. An exhibition catalogue documenting the organization's history and the 50th Anniversary Exhibition will be produced as a result of support from the Council.

For more information on these and other Florida Craftsmen programs, please contact the statewide headquarters in St Petersburg at (727) 821-7391.
