Pattern Play

Pattern immediately catches the eye. It is found in nature and in mathematics. It is used as an embellishment and as a warning. Man has an almost irresistible urge to recognize pattern in his world. The artists participating in this exhibition, Jennifer Cecere, Sarah Gross, Cosme Herrera, Catherine Woods and Michelle Weinberg investigate pattern for its meaning and its affect on the surrounding space. They use pattern to explore man’s relationship to nature, the relationship between East and West and the inevitable passing of time.
